About the club

The Rally was started in 1974 by a group of people from the South Hams who all had a keen interest in things old.  This small group decided to repair and rebuild their old vehicles, restoring them to their full glory. Then they decided to show them to the public holding the first rally in the summer of 1974. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength holding an annual rally in aid of charity.

The annual two day working rally held at Sorley Cross is the main club event, but this is not all the club is about...........

Winter social eveings are held on the first Monday of the months during the months September - March.  The meetings range from talks by invited guests, video evenings, the Christmas quiz and odd object evening to the annual Workshop event.

There are also other social events held throughout the year such as a skittles evening, summer BBQ and trips to such venues as Sparex & Vapourmatic.

The club tries to hold two road runs each year rasing money for the chosen charities.  One is named the "Tractor Trek" which is held in early spring time.  It is a short run mainly in the morning, offering slow and faster routes so that it accomodates all tractors.  The second run is held in the summer and is a longer run taking in the beautiful sights of the South Hams.

The Spring Rally is a chance for all the tractor drivers to get together and practice their skills, ploughing, rolling harrowing etc. This is usually held around the end of March at Rimpston Farm, East Allington by kind permission of the Luscombe family.

In the autumn the club turns it attentions to ploughing by holding a training day for club members to improve their skills at competion ploughing.  These learnt skills can then be put to the test at the annual ploughing match open to all club members.

As you can see this is a very active club, members can choose to participate in as many or as few events as they wish.  The club tries to offer events for all and is always open to new ideas to keep the club alive.
